That's purely hypothetical, though. Not many people would pay that much to change all those characters at once. If someone intended to do so on low pay, then they'd take the smart, patient option of buying a name change/character customisation change at an affordable weekly payday basis. Granted that this (surprise) update took four years to come into effect, then waiting a week to get paid isn't too much to ask for. I doubt that many people would like to change all the names of that many characters anyway.

I mean, I myself only work as a casual at a gaming store - they've been hit pretty hard by the economical crisis, so I (and many other casuals) only get about two shifts a week. I can still manage if I wanted to get a makeover, by not going on an insane spending spree on the online store - I've 13 characters myself.

The only thing that really irks me is that the prices randomly switch from the UK price of 5.99 pounds to 9.99USD sometimes, which is a three dollar difference for me. :P Does that depend on the district you're in?

Anyway point is, get a name change and one makeover pack weekly if you want them that bad, yet don't want to pay an outragous price for a bunch of them. I'll admit though, that the namechange is a bit of a rip.

That's because it IS a trivial sum.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. I changed the face on my 4-year-old Tyrian-born Ranger, to a Canthan face, and nothing else.

Hilarious. You actually have no idea what you're ranting about, do you?

THIS is how it works:
You spend $10
That buys you 5 makeovers
Each makeover lets you change the complete appearance, of any of your characters

So, it costs $10 to completely change the appearance of those 2-3 characters in your example. Not $20-$30. And you'd still have 2-3 spare to use on any other characters if you wanted to later.

Indeed, I think (s)he misunderstood the principle of the makeover credits.

$10= 5 x makeover credit = 5 x (possibility to change hair style + possibility to change hair color + possibility to change face + possibility to change skin color) = maximum 20 changes over maximum 5 characters

So it's no more than $2 for a complete character makeover.

I'd change my Necro's hair, which clips with her shades but I've found that you can't make toons in the exact same manner as you did before. I once rolled another Necro just to see if I could make a replica of my current Necro and couldn't. I couldn't find the same shade of grey and the face(the Rebecca Romijn face) she has is gone or was altered. Sometimes you just have to learn to love the "flaws" of your toons. Vala just wouldn't be Vala with light grey skin and the Milla Jovovich face.

I'm sorry; I don't mean to trivialize anyone's financial situation.

However, people who are in unfavorable job or debt situations essentially have no disposable income; I would consider these people to be outside of the scope of this discussion entirely. Changing your avatar appearance obviously constitutes frivolous spending, and those with no disposable income should not be engaging in frivolous spending of any kind.

If we're going to discuss something as trivial as games, I think it's natural to limit the discussion to people who have the money to pay.

The reality for many is that $10 can often be spent without thought: buying lunch, daily commute, an afternoon latte, the latest New York Times bestseller, etc. In this context, $10 for a makeover pack honestly seems to be a trifling sum.

You're talking of people who have enough disposable income to pay for everything they need and then some, or people who don't have to work for their money and have no responsibilities to deal with.

1 time on each of 3 characters. The fact that I can mix options from different games is what sold me. There's options that simply weren't there when I created my characters, and besides, after 3 years, I didn't mind a change. I love Elinora with green hair, but I changed it to a different hairstyle with blue hair and it was fun. It's something different. My ele got pink hair, and my mesmer a new haircut.

And I learned that my monk is perfect and I will never change him.

I remember when that happened, and I remember how mad you were. And it was stuff like that that always made me hope they'd add this for people that did want it. It's too bad they didn't give like a free credit to everyone or something just so that people in that situation could fix one thing.

Name changes I probably wouldn't pay for, though; I like my names just fine. I named all my characters very carefully. I chose their apperances carefully, too, but many of the options I can now use weren't available before.

I can't complain all that much about paying $2 per character for something I don't *need*.

Bext explanation of the acceptability of these features at this price since they came out. Ty for this moment of clarity Burst Cancel.
